DAY 1 :

8TH MAY SURAT TO KOLKATA FLIGHT and then night journey from Kolkata to njp via bus or train

DAY2- 9TH MAY2023 : ARRIVAL AT BAGDOGRA AIRPORT (IXB) / NJP RAILWAY STATION /SILIGURI AND TRANSFER TO GANGTOK
Welcome to the Cleanest State in India – Sikkim, and transfer to the capital city. Meet & greet on arrival and drive towards Gangtok (Alt.5550Ft/1675M).
On arrival, check into the beautiful view rooms of the hotel well equipped with modern amenities and sink into the soft bed to get off the exhaustion. In the evening, take a stroll in the neighborhood or enjoy some hot coffee sitting on the balcony while admiring the beauty of the place.Overnight at Gangtok.

Day 3 10th may – Day Excursion to Changu/Tsomgo Lake, Baba Mandir
As the morning sores in, the warm rays of the sun knocks through the window to give a startup call for the second day. Enjoy breakfast at the hotel in its peaceful surroundings, and load the bags with dry foods before leaving for a full-day trip to Tsomgo Lake with Baba Mandir / Nathula Pass Excursion.

New Baba Harbhajan Singh Mandir – The Baba Mandir was built in the Memorial of Baba Harbhajan Singh or the ‘Hero of Nathula’, a soldier in the Indian Army. It is situated at a distance of 12Km from Tsomgo lake, and 52Km from Gangtok city. Baba Harbhajan served as a part of border patrol force, and in the year 1968 while escorting a mule column he felts on a fast-flowing
stream and got carried away by the powerful water current. Soldiers found his remains after 3 days and cremated with full military honor along with a shrine on his Samadhi built as per Babas wish, which he expressed through his friend post-death. The original bunker of Baba Harbhajan Singh is located further up near the Gnathang valley which is the Old Baba Mandir but because of
its difficult terrain tourist can’t reach there so they build a New Mandir for easy access. This shrine believed to have wish-fulfilling powers along with that Baba is still guarding the international border between India and China. On Sundays, a ‘Langar’ runs at the temple, which provides free meals to the visitors.

Tsomgo Lake (12400ft) – Also known as Changu Lake is an oval-shaped glacial lake that is only 40 km from Gangtok City, and almost about 1Km in length with 15 meters depth. The name Tsomgo is made of two words in Bhutia Language ‘Tso’ means ‘lake’ and ‘Mgo’ means ‘head’ in a short ‘source of the lake’. This high altitude lake is surrounded by snow-capped steep mountains
and remains frozen during wintertime. As summer beings to step-in, the glacier melts and the lake gets its origin. The locals consider the lake to be sacred, and it reflects different colors with the change in seasons.

Nathula Pass – A major mountain pass in the Himalayas in East Sikkim district, which is a corridor of passage between India and Tibet before it was closed in 1962 but reopened in 2006.Located around 56 km from Gangtok at an altitude of 14450 ft, the road to Nathula is the highest motorable road, passes through the Tsomgo lake, and requires an entry permit to visit. The view
from this international border is breathtaking and allows the tourist to get a glimpse of China on the other side along with their Chinese militants. On a clear day, the road winding down the Chumbi valley can be seen.

DAY 4 11TH MAY : GANGTOK TO LACHEN (130 KMS/ 6 HRS)
After the blackness of night, Earth’s star rises on the horizon, spreading her gold in every direction, to wake-up the dreamy city of Gangtok, to kick start the day. Get the tummy refill with a heavy breakfast before leaving for 6 hours long journey towards Lachen 130 Km. Post breakfast, around 10 a.m. leave for Lachen via NH 31A. En-route visit

Sightseeings :
Kabi Lungstok – It’s a historic place, located on North Sikkim Highway. This is where a friendship treaty between Lepcha Chief Te-Kung-Tek and the Bhutia Chief Khey-Bum-Sar was signed. A small stone pillar was built to mark the location where the treaty was signed.
Seven Sister Waterfalls – The name is given to this waterfall as it makes its descent in seven stages, before gushing down through the dense forest and hitting the rock. This magnificent fall on the way to Lachen is sure to allure the tourist with its beauty in the background of lush-green Mountain. To facilitate the tourists to savor the pristine beauty and to be with nature, the Tourism Department has set up a waiting shed and cafeteria.
Naga Waterfalls – Another picturesque waterfall in North Sikkim near the confluence of Lachen-Chu and Lachung-Chu at Chungthang. This the most scenic waterfall with the longest route and ice-cold water surrounded by forest in a peaceful domain.

Lachen – The name Lachen means “Big Pass” nestled at an altitude of 8838 ft
in North Sikkim, this peaceful place is secluded far from the noisy city between Chopta Valley and Gurudongmar Lake. The small town is beautifully decorated with little hamlets in the background of the Lower Himalayas with their snowy cliffs and tall pine trees. After check-in to the hotel, head straight towards the cozy room equipped with basic amenities and facing the beautiful green mountain. This remote place doesn’t have much to offer the tourist except for its natural beauty, so one can spend the evening tasting some local Sikkim flavors while admiring nature. Overnight at Lachen.

DAY 5: 12TH MAY GURUDONGMER LAKE EXCURSION AND TRANSFER TO LACHUNG
After shedding the exhaustion with a good night’s sleep in a peaceful environment, day 04 calls to get up a bit early to get moving towards the sightseeing of the day after feasting on fresh and hot breakfast while appreciating the beautiful morning. Post breakfast visits
Gurudongmar Lake (5450 M/70 Km/03 hours).

Gurudongmar Lake – Located at an altitude of 17800 ft, this high altitude natural lake is considered the most sacred lakes as believed by the Buddhists and Hindus alike. This high altitude beautiful and awe-inspiring lake remains milky in color throughout the year. This beautiful lake used to remain frozen most of the year, hence it was not possible to use its water for drinking purposes. When the Guru Padmasambhava passed by, while returning
from Tibet, the residents are reported to have approached him for providing a source of water. The Guru obliged, and a portion of the lake touched by him does not freeze in extreme winter. Since the water of the lake is considered sacred, visitors carry the ‘blessed’ water in bottles.

After lunch, check out from the hotel and transfer to Lachung

Lachung – The name Lachung stands for Small Pass†is a mesmerizing hilly area near the border of Tibet in North Sikkim at an elevation of 9600 ft. This small dreamy destination is embraced with snowy mountains, tall coniferous trees, the sparkling stream which is a perfect treat for a vacationer, nature, and photography lover.

On arrival, Check-in to the hotel in the middle of pristine nature with rooms having breathtaking views of the rugged mountains apart from basic amenities. The evening is free to enjoy the beauty of the place, or binge on Hot Thukpas, Momo, or local spree while praising the mountains as the calm moonbeam hits the surface. Overnight at Lachung.

DAY 6: 13TH MAY YUMTHANG VALLEY EXCURSION AND TOWARDS GANGTOK

For others, the arrival of a new day brings new hope and for explorers, a new day brings a new destination. As the golden hues of the sun illuminate the lazy town of Sikkim, with the birds joining for the get-up call fills the morning with their sweet melody to aware everyone morning has arrived. Enjoy the fresh morning from the balcony, with the jawdropping view of the mountains while sipping some tea. Post breakfast, leave for Yumthang Valley Excursion.

Yumthang Valley – Also known as the Valley of Flowers when the 24 species of Rhododendron blooms during May and the Valley full of Snow during winter. Shingba Rhododendron Sanctuary Spread over 43 sq. km through which flows the Yumthang river, it adjoins Lachungand Yumthang. The Sanctuary which is known for its abundance of
Rhododendron shrubs and trees is rich in ground flora and other vegetation as well. The road leading to the valley follows a scenic way with cascading waterfall, and stream. This exotic location with hot springs, lazy yaks, and lush green meadows remains cold throughout the year due to the snow-capped mountains surrounding it.

Zero Point – The formal name of this Zero point is Yumesamdong, Zero Point Sikkim stands at an altitude of 15,300 feet (23 kms from Yumthang Valley) is the last outpost of civilization where three rivers meet amid a panoramic view of the snow-clad mountain and picturesque surrounding. Tourists with asthma are advised to avoid this place due to high altitude sickness because of the low oxygen level.

After lunch in Lachung, transfer to Gangtok.

DAY 7 – 14th may DARJEELING TRANSFER VIA GANGTOK LOCAL
SIGHTSEEING

Soon after the vibrant Sun Rays has begun to warm the day, a shrill noise from the bustling city wakes you up as the locals beginning their daily chores. Let your tummy fill with the morning delicacies before Check out from Gangtok and visit Gangtok local sightseeing & drive for 4 hours towards Darjeeling (Alt 7100Ft/ 2100M).

‘The Queen of Hills’ – Darjeeling, a gem of a place known for its youthful vibe combined with modern as well as colonial charm. The dreamy town is situated at an altitude of 7100 ft, surrounded by tall mountains, coniferous trees, and a green tea plantation. Darjeeling is a favoured spot for everyone whether it’s a tourist, trekker, photographer, artist, or botanist apart from its World-famous Darjeeling Tea. On arrival, check-in at the hotel surrounded by Mother Nature with big, clean rooms facing Mt. Kanchenjunga standing head up high. In the afternoon or evening, stroll about and shop.

Chowrasta& Darjeeling Mall– The heart of Victorian Darjeeling, this place is the commercial hub, set on the ridge above Darjeeling town, dotted with many curious centers and other shops selling excellent blended Darjeeling tea. There are many heritage and old stores lined up inside of the roads which sell unique handicrafts items along with food stalls selling hot dim sum, thukpas. Young children can enjoy a pony ride in the mall while elders can sit on the benches and feel the real vibe of Darjeeling while watching the people and their

Day 8 – 15th mayDarjeeling Local Sightseeing

As the chilly night continues to dominate over Darjeeling this day calls to wake up even before the sun to witness the stunning view of sunrise from the viewpoint along with a full-day city tour Post breakfast.
Early morning visit to –

Tiger Hill Sunrise Point–An early morning visit to Tiger hill is perfect to witness the unforgettable sunrise over the snow-covered peaks of the majestic Himalayas. As the sunrise beings, the dazzling snow covering peaks of Mt. Kangchenjunga gloriously enlightens with a magnificent view, and on a clear day glimpse of the World’s highest peak Mt. Everest is visible. The sunrise from Tiger hill has earned international fame for the magnificent view of the sunrise over Kanchenjunga and the great Eastern Himalayan Mountains.

Batasia Loop – The Batasia Loop is a spiral narrow-gauge railway track where the Toy Train negotiates a sudden sharp descent from Ghoom. This place provides a breathtaking view of the surrounding mountains with a 360-degree view of the Darjeeling landscape in the backdrop of the majestic Kanchenjunga. The loop is decorated with grass, shrubs, and seasonal flowers, along benches laid inside the garden to enjoy nature while the Toy train enters, hooting its way to complete the spiral route.

Ghoom Monastery (If Open) – Yiga Monastery or Old Ghoom Monastery is one of the oldest Tibetan monasteries in Darjeeling build in the year 1850 and below the Ghoom railway station. It follows the lineage of Sakya Sect of Vajra yana Buddhism and also has a small philosophical institute. This monastery has the biggest and the oldest statue of Buddha in Darjeeling and is being bought from Tibet.Back to Hotel for breakfast and freshen up before heading towards the city tour.

Padmaja Naidu Himalayan Zoological Park-Also known as Darjeeling Zoo is now one of the best zoos in the world after bagging the International Earth Hero Award in 2014. The unique feature of this zoo is, it houses animals of high altitude, and mostly from the upper Himalayas with rare animals like Red Pandas, Snow Leopards, Tibetan Wolf, etc. The zoo contributes significantly to the breeding programs of endangered animals and safeguards the vulnerable ones.

Himalayan Mountaineering Institute (Closed on Thursday)– HMI is a pilgrimage for all climbing enthusiasts of the world. Established in honor of Tenzing Norgay, it has a wellstocked museum with mountaineering displays and many expedition artifacts. Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru laid the foundation stone of the Institute, and now it comprises a residential school for mountaineering providing students with basic and advanced courses.

Japanese Temple and Peace Pagoda–Also known as Darjeeling Peace Pagoda are on the Jalapahar hill. They build the Temple under the guidance of Buddhist monks from Japan in traditional Japanese style, and this place is the house of four avatars of Buddha. Close to it is the Peace Pagoda, where it showcases the four large avatars of Lord Buddha. The view from
the top is magnificent with the panoramic view of Darjeeling town, and Mt. Kanchenjunga. During the visit, tourists can join for morning or evening prayers in the temple along with the monks.

Tenzing Rock & Gombu Rock–This huge and giant natural rock named Tenzing Norgay who created history after climbing Mt. Everest is at Lebong Cart Road, also known as Monkey Rock. Located opposite of Tenzing rock is the Gombu rock name after Nawang Gombu, the nephew of Tenzing Norgay, who was the first person to climb Everest twice. Tenzing Norgay and his nephew used to climb this rock to train them for Everest climbing, and now these two steep rocks are being used by HMI during their Rock climbing training courses.

Tibetan Refugee Self Help Centre– The help center was established on 1st October 1959,to rehabilitate the Tibetan refugees who followed Dalai Lama and escaped from Tibet. The workers in the center produce excellent Tibetan handicrafts like carpets, woolens, wood, and leather works which they sell and export to different countries for a living.

Rangeet Valley Passenger Ropeway– Also known as The Darjeeling Ropeway is the perfect spot to enjoy the breathtaking view of the valley below with the dreamy Darjeeling town, the lush green tea plantations, dense forests, mountain streams in their full flow, waterfalls, and the impressive snow peaks the background.

You can also enjoy the World UNESCO Heritage world-famous Darjeeling railway or the Toy Train to Ghoom subject to track conditions. It’s the main and best attraction for visiting this hill train in Darjeeling. The path in which the train runs is well decorated by nature with lush green trees, flowering plants, small bushes, and vast Kanchenjunga dominating its presence throughout the journey.

The evening is free to visit the Darjeeling Mall for shopping as this is the last spot to crack a great deal and grab something unique from this trip.

DAY 09 16 th may – ‘Memories are the timeless treasure of the heart’.

In the Morning. Enjoy the delicious spread at the breakfast table while enjoying the charm of the place, and post breakfast check out from the hotel, and move towards NJP Railway Station with sweet Sikkim and Darjeeling memories to cherish forever. Train from njp to Kolkata.
